A famous shloka (from the Padma Purana):

"Shaligram sevanam param dharmam.
Yasya nityam bhaktya pujayati.
S Pavanah Papanaam Sarvaan
Salvation is achieved through fame.

Meaning: Service (worship) of Shaligram is the highest religion. One who worships it with devotion every day gets freed from all sins and attains salvation.

Types of Shaligrams

Shaligrams have various symbols and shapes that identify their form and the various incarnations of Lord Vishnu, such as Keshav, Narayana, Vasudeva, etc.

A shaligram is a black, fossilized stone or ammonite, typically found in the Gandaki River basin in Nepal, and revered in Hinduism as a representation of Lord Vishnu. These stones are often collected from the riverbed and are believed to possess sacred qualities.

Benefits of worship

According to Padma Purana, worship of Shaligram destroys sins and leads to salvation.

Merely seeing Shaligram also leads to forgiveness of sins.

It leads to health, wealth and spiritual advancement.
